Italian stock exchange decides on MTS

The Italian stock exchange meets today to decide on its involvement in MTS, the European government bond trading system which it part owns with Euronext, as the vendor has warned its biggest clients it may be forced to admit hedge funds… more on this from efinancialnews

  1. “Forced” eh? Anti-trust action etc. Interesting…..sounds like they’re shooting themselves in the foot, IMO.

    Have these Hedge Funds become so bereft of ideas to gain alpha in a low-volatility bond market, that they see using MTS as a potentially fruitful source?????

    I also see Man Financial’s name being mentioned for the first time…that I know of. Interesting as I’d have not thought it would be a natural market for them…..especially if it is the AHL arm as they tend to express their bond market views via futures, due to liquidity.
